PMD Wave Pro Review | Beauty and Fashion Tech

The PMD Wave Pro is a sonic face spatula that can extract, infuse, and lift. I gave the device a try and found I really like it for infusing serums and moisturizers. It also extracts pretty well, but I am fortunate enough to not have much to extract. So, I use it primarily for infusing and lifting.

PMD sent me the Wave Pro to review and all opinions expressed are my own.

PMD Wave Pro Review | Beauty and Fashion Tech

The PMD Wave Pro is a skincare device designed to minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and blackheads, reduce oil congestion, and promote softer, smoother skin. The device is generally suitable for people with different skin types, including those with sensitive skin.

The Wave Pro offers three modes of operation: Extract, Infuse, and Lift.

Extract Mode helps in clearing pores and removing impurities. It is used to remove dead skin, dirt, debris, blackheads, and whiteheads. This function should be used once per week.

Infuse Mode aids in deeper absorption of skincare products. In this mode, you can use the device to help serums and moisturizes absorb better into your skin.

Lift Mode utilizes Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) to lift and tone the skin, focusing on areas like crow’s feet, eyebrows, and lip lines. The EMS feature particularly contributes to a more toned and lifted appearance of the skin. Electrical Muscle Stimulation generally is believed to improve facial muscle tone, although it is also an area that could use further study. It is akin to a home version of microcurrent therapy.

Effectiveness

I tested the PMD Wave Pro over a period of four weeks. Here are my results in each area of use.

Extract Mode: I do not have a lot to extract, but I do get blackheads and whiteheads. I felt after four weeks it helped in preventing blackheads on my cheeks where I am prone to them. It extracts whiteheads quite well but did not particularly extract tiny blackheads. I still have to manually extract those. But I’m talking tiny there. I have seen reports and reviews showing excellent extraction of larger whiteheads and blackheads.

Infuse Mode: This is my favorite use of the product. I felt the PMD Wave Pro definitely enhanced my skin’s absorption of products, in particular serums. I use it regularly with both serums and moisturizer and can tell the difference in absorption between when I use the Wave Pro and when I do not.

Lift Mode: I like how it feels using the device, but at four weeks it is hard to say if I am noticing a difference in fine lines or wrinkles other than the more immediate effects I notice after using the device to infuse skin-care products. However, another reviewer has noticed some softening of laugh lines after five weeks of use.

How to Use the PMD Wave Pro

First and foremost, the Wave Pro should be used on wet/damp skin. Do not use the tool on dry skin. It is recommended that users should mist their face with water or toner before using the extract or lift modes and apply skincare products before the infuse mode.

Note: Full instructions for use, including videos are available here at the PMD Website.

Infuse Mode: For infusing, The spatula should be placed using the back of the device for working products into the skin. Add your favorite serum or moisturizer to your skin and gently move the Wave Pro aver your skin in an upward and outward motion.

Lift Mode: Using the back side of the spatula, mist your face with toner or water and, using the touch points on the side of the device, move the PMD Wave PRO in an upward and outward direction.  The device is developed to target crow’s feet and lip lines, but it can be used in other areas as well for skin toning.
