I’m not sure if I’ve been too busy, haven’t been paying attention, or just haven’t restocked on more recent products but damn, makeup has gotten super expensive. Ulta 21 Days of Beauty made me realize just how expensive it got! I was prepping my posts for the week and I was doing the MAC Lipsticks that are on sale today and I realized that even on sale, with 50% off, these were very expensive! These are $17-$17.50 on SALE where as I remember that being the original price of a MAC lipstick (around $19 or so dollars back in the day). The original price is $34-$35. Dude, when were MAC Lipsticks ever $35 bucks? I mean, Guerlain Lipsticks were $48 around 2011-2012!
Another great example, the bareMinerals Original Pure Serum Radiant Natural Liquid Foundation Mineral SPF 20 is now $44. Back in 2017, the Bare Minerals barePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation was $34. Also, LancômeMonsieur Big Volumizing Mascara and Lancôme Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara are $15 today but correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t these used to go on sale for around $12?
I’m not knocking the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale as I do think they put a lot of effort into this year’s sale. I didn’t buy as much as I normally do but there were a variety of different items each day and a lot of them not to mention many of the items were new to the sale. Because we all know the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale was getting a little tired and Juice Beauty at 50% off was hitting the way it did 15+ years ago! This year, I saw a big improvement on what was offered. The only issue I had, which wasn’t Ulta’s fault, was the items that were 50% off felt like they weren’t even on sale due to the inflated price in the makeup world at the moment.
We had some moments where deals were like $12 bucks but a lot more moments where deals were $20+ and it made it feel like I was paying original price for it versus getting it at 50% off. Was anyone else feeling like that? Maybe because a lot of what was on sale isn’t what I use or purchase often so, I haven’t taken note of the price increases on these items post-pandemic! And you know what? I wouldn’t mind a price increase TOO much of the quality and formulas were somehow better than they once were or at the very LEAST stayed the same. But things are getting more and more expensive and the quality is going downhill!
Did you notice this? Or am I crazy?

Isabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.
