Here’s What You Really Need to Haul During ILIA’s Black Friday Sale

ILIA started their Black Friday Sale a little early. You can 20% off sitewide and if you spend $125 you can enjoy 25% off! You’ll also get a free full-size lipstick at checkout if you spend $150+. They also have a slew a few nice sales picks in their sale section! To see the sale price you have to add them to cart but just an example select Liquid Powder Eye Tints (I’ve reviewed these in the past and love them! But they are sheer and natural keep that in mind) are $11 and select shades of Color Haze are $12! The sales section isn’t huge but they have a few items you might want to take a peek at! Remember you have to add them to your cart to see the discount otherwise they show up full-price!

In order to take advantage of the sale you do need an account (free to join) or log into your existing account. No code required, discount taken at checkout!

I’m an ILIA convert and I absolutely love some of their products. If you need some recs I highly recommend the Skin Rewind Complexion Stick. She’s not as creamy as some foundations sticks are but I love how this brightens and leaves skin with really smooth, even coverage. Controversial opinion but their True Skin Serum Tint is awesome! If you have dry skin this stuff is brilliant. Natural, beautiful coverage, and very hydrating! It feels like a luxurious tinted face oil! And finally, their hydrating True Skin Serum Concealer is lovely! Creamy, pigmented, and blends beautifully.

I was waiting for this sale to try something new. I’m a little sad I can’t use it on Holiday sets but hey, I’ll grab other stuff.

Enjoy!

I WISH it was a little more as I held off purchasing Merit during the Sephora Savings Event in the hopes they’d do 25-30% off but eh, I’ll take 20! I’ve been waiting for Merit to drop their Black Friday and between this and the ILIA sale I’m a happy girl. I’m also waiting for the Oden’s Eye Sale but that’s a story for another day!

Enjoy 20% off today at Merit Beauty using code EALOYALTY. I really, really want to try Retrospect L’Extrait de Parfum which is their first ever fragrance! It’s not a gourmand but I’m still curious about it and I’m tempted to blindbuy it but I’m not sure yet if I’ll do it! I do know I want a new shade of the Merit Balm Blushes! I love these! The Mini Flush Balm Set is a nice pick up as well! I also want the Great Skin Moisturizer.

Some of the sets are AMAZING deals as well! You can shop the entire Merit Collection in the The Full Collection Set which is every product on site and it’s completely customizable and includes 14 Full-Size products. Or the Five Minute Morning which was a huge hit last year! It includes six full-size products! Remember these are already discounted but you’ll get an extra 20% off when you use the promo code.

I just find Merit really timeless and pretty. It’s a great brand. Well, anyway, enough of me waxing poetry about Merit 🙂 Let me know your favs if you have any. Enjoy the sale!

Lime Crime Makeup Discontinued As the Brand Transitions to Hair

Lime Crime makeup is being discontinued and the brand is transitioning to solely hair with products like Unicorn Hair remaining as all color cosmetics are phased out. As you may know Lime Crime was founded and launched by Doe Deere in 2008. At the time it was rather edgy brand due to it’s bold and colorful offerings in the makeup world. As you may know Lime Crime was riddled with controversy with Christine from Temptalia as involved in some issues with the company several years ago where they weren’t exactly happy with her negative review of one of their products. Later on news came out that several bloggers were threatened with legal action against for criticism of the brand and/or products.

However, in 2018, Lime Crime was purchased by Tengram Capital Partners and they aimed to develop it as a conventional and commercially acceptable brand. Doe Deere stepped down as the chief executive officer and later completely departed from the brand. They never quite got to a point where they were super viral. Maybe it was past drama or maybe it was that inbetween phase of youTube being popular and Instagram slowing creeping in to take over and sadly, by the time Tiktok got a leg in Lime Crime had fallen way off the map making it too late to grab that viral moment on a popular platform like Tiktok.

As of now it’s still carried at ulta.com but as of the new year if not sooner I’m sure the items will go on sale as the Lime Crime Website is already having a blow out sale.

As we head into 2025 I’m sure they’ll be news about other brands closing their doors. It hasn’t been an easy time in the beauty world (or anywhere else in the world for that matter).

Will you miss Lime Crime?

Ulta Beauty’s Chief Merchandising Officer Stepping Down and What Changes Can We Expect?

News broke today that Monica Arnaudo, Ulta’s Chief Merchandising Officer, will be stepping down in 2025. Ulta has yet to name a new successor for the position. Monica has only been in the role since 2019 but I’d say in that time Ulta has undergone a lot of rapid changes like the many brands they’ve brought into the store such as Pat Mcgrath, NARS, and more. Not to mention the many interesting and new promotions and rewards perks we’ve gotten in the last few years.

“Ulta Beauty has been just the best company. I’ve been here just over seven years now, and so it’s hard for me to close this corporate chapter of my life,” she said in an interview. “This year marks 45 years in the beauty industry for me. I started when I was 16 so I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and what the next chapter of my life could be, so I’m ready to make this change. I love this industry so much and I love it because of all the great products, but really, what I love the most about it is the people.”

I dunno if her leaving will result in any changes for us as the consumer. Remember her position includes Ulta’s merchandising strategy, product selection, and pricing and bringing in someone new means an entirely new means we’ll experience a new way of shopping at Ulta with any changes (good or bad) that are made. This could be a negative or positive for our shopping experience. I thought it was an interesting piece of news to share today as I’ve become quite the Ulta shopper in the last few years considering the assortment of brands they’ve brought in not to mention their amazing cash back rewards. Sephora sadly fails to reward me for being a loyal customer and Ulta does a way better job pampering me in our relationship. Of course, buying direct from brands lately also, results in some fantastic perks with full-size freebies and rewards programs as well but Ulta is def a nice way to do a one stop shop.

Monica leaving doesn’t necessarily mean anything negative will happen but change of any kind always makes me a nervous nelly! Do you think her stepping down will have any effect consumers?

BorntoStandOut Be My Cookie Has a Sh*t Note Making It a Truly Unique Fragrance

Ahh it’s been a while since we’ve done a beauty most unusual post and what better way to celebrate the return of it than with a perfume that has a poop note. Yes, poop. BorntoStandOut Be My Cookie was teased on social media a few days ago and people were losing their minds as it was the perfect drop as the Christmas Holiday closes in on us. Who doesn’t want to smell like delicious cookies? Well, ok, some people don’t but I’m a gourmand lover and I think smelling like fresh baked cookies around the Holidays is perfection!

But really, BorntoStandOut does take pride not following the society standard and creates truly unique fragrances and in this case, Be My Cookie, really goes unique. According to the brand this fragrance contains notes of Natural Raspberry Essence, Crunchy Cookie, Castoreum Resinoid, Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, Milk, Tonquitone, and Skatole. Their marketing says it’s a cookie you’ll never forget for lovers of a little bit sweet and a whole lot dirty. Ummm yeah, for sure I guess we know what you mean when you say dirty now.

According to them, “It’s sweet, but filthy. Delicious, but dangerous. For lovers who know the best relationships are a little sweet… and A WHOLE LOT DIRTY.” Ok, we get it, something interesting is happening here and we love a good dirty moment! If Heretic Parfums taught us nothing at all it was not to be scared of being a little dirty!

But after a little investigation into the notes of Be My Cookie we’ve realized that the chocolate on the bottle of the promo image MAY not be chocolate at all. That last note, Skatole, well, it’s an interesting one. According to science, “skatole is a foul-smelling constituent of mammalian feces; it is produced by the decomposition of tryptophan in the digestive tract. It has a floral aroma at low concentrations, contributing to the pleasant smell of flowers such as jasmine and orange blossoms.”

So, I guess we hope and pray that Not my Cookie has a low concentration so we aren’t actually smelling sh*t but a bouquet of jasmine and orange blossoms! Fingers crossed right? Tiktoker, BewareofPity, went the extra mile and tested it on a few people asked what they smelled when she sprayed them with it and she got some interesting replies.

She said it smells like “a gas station on fore with essence of tarmac drying and in the far, far in the distance there’s a man holding a sugar cookie”. When she tried it on others she got replies that it smelled like mothballs, smells like a urinal, smells like a bathroom getting cleaned, a few people said it smelled like ink….ok, so, things are looking up at least it’s not literally Eau de Poop.

Be My Cookie is available for a limited time and it will likely be very appealing to those that collect unique fragrances or just love this brand. I actually do like BorntoStandOut but I feel like I can safely skip out on Be My Cookie.

What do you think of this interesting fragrance?
